HISTORY
"Racing Roots"
Motor sports and drag racing have always been important to Strictly Hydraulics and its employees. The company was founded 35 years ago by Doug Lively, of Sackville, who also owned the old Sackville Drag Drag Strip and Lively Motor Sports, a Honda dealer.
The company carries on its race-car heritage by supporting Scotia Speedworld as a sponsor of the Legends Division of 5/8 scale fiberglass replicas of NASCAR Modified Class.
Long time Strictly Hydraulics employee Greg Nickerson began racing the Strictly Hydraulics sponsored 1995 Pontiac Firebird in the summer of 2003. Greg’s best elapsed time in the 1/4 mile was 10.14 @ 131 MPH.
Drag racing has always been a family affair for the Nickerson’s with Greg getting his start in drag racing with brother Don in the early 1970's.
Some of the major accomplishments Greg has accumulated over his long drag racing career in the Maritimes include a 1985 National event win in Sanair, Quebec (first Maritimes to ever win a National event), 4 stock /super stock association championships, inducted in to the maritime motor sports hall of fame as well as the Canadian drag racing hall of fame.
Greg has shared the love of the sport with son Dan who is now behind the wheel of the Firebird. Dan competes in the Atlantic Canadian stock /super stock association and pro bracket class. At 24 years old, Dan’s resume consists of multiple pro class category wins, as well as a 2019 National open win at Miramichi Dragway being his first win behind the wheel of his father’s Firebird.
