Motor sports and drag racing have always been important to Strictly Hydraulics and its employees. The company was founded 25 years ago by Doug Lively, of Sackville, who also owned the old Sackville Drag Drag Strip and Lively Motor Sports, a Honda dealer.
Strictly Hydraulics began as a small business with three family members and is now a major player in the Atlantic Canada market for the supply, service and design of hydraulic equipment. Ian Lively is president and owner, while day to day management falls to Tim Sampson. The business now boasts 13 employees in two buildings in Burnside Industrial Park.
Well-trained service technicians and a fleet of vans are available 24/7 to supply parts and do repair and installations in the field. The company also stocks the largest selection of hoses and fittings in Atlantic Canada
The company carries on its race-car heritage by supporting Scotia Speedworld as a sponsor of the Legends Division of 5/8 scale fiberglass replicas of NASCAR Modifieds. Head Technician Greg Nickerson, a member of the Maritime Motor Sports Hall of Fame, has been drag racing since 1972 won the Stock/Superstock Maritime Drag Racing Championship in 2008 and 2011.
